This can be achieved through the reauthorization of the Over-the-Counter Monograph Drug User Fee Program (OMUFA), Rx-to-OTC switch improvements, and the modernization of the more than 30-year-old Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA).

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) President and CEO Scott Melville released the below statement following President Trump imposing a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada, which were originally set to take effect Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 12:01 a.m. EST. As of this morning, the Trump Administration has agreed to pause sweeping tariffs on Mexico for one month while the two sides work on an agreement.

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) today announced the recent hiring of Dr. Fred Meadows as its new Senior Director of Quality, Technical, and Regulatory Affairs and Dr. Caitlin Ondracek as its new Senior Director of Medical Science and Regulatory Affairs. Meadows will report to Dr. Marcia Howard, Vice President of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs, and Ondracek will report to Dr. Jay Sirois, Vice President of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs.

The annual Monitoring the Future survey (MTF), conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan and funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), shows that overall substance use self-reported by teens in 2024 remains low and below pre-pandemic levels, and, specifically, intentional misuse/abuse (“nonmedical use”) of over-the-counter (OTC) cough/cold medication has also remained low.

CHPA joined the Congressional Trademark Caucus, the International Trademark Association (INTA), and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC) on Capitol Hill Wednesday for a discussion and programming on anti-counterfeiting initiatives. The program included remarks from U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Chris Coons (D-DE), a panel discussion with U.S. government officials, a fireside chat with brand owners, and interactive booths to inform congressional staff about how to spot counterfeit goods and how to educate consumers about how to protect themselves, ways to report criminal activity, and other important information.

(PHILADELPHIA) – The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) today announced the election of two new board members following its November Board of Directors meeting in Philadelphia. The Association also announced the appointment of current CHPA board member, Greg Bradley, CEO of Foundation Consumer Healthcare, as Chair-Elect of the CHPA Board of Directors. Bradley will assume the two-year appointment as Board Chair in March 2025, when current CHPA Board Chair, Lisa Paley, President of Haleon’s North America Region, concludes her term.
