(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — The CHPA Educational Foundation and its digital brand KnowYourOTCs was honored twice by PRNEWS with a 2019 Platinum PR Award in the category of “On a Shoestring Campaign,” and with an honorable mention in the “Cause-Related Marketing” category. Developed in partnership with the digital communications agency SOMA Strategies, the award-winning KnowYourOTCs social media campaign enabled the nonprofit foundation to reach many more consumers with critical messages about the safe and responsible use of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and dietary supplements, resulting in an increased online engagement of 213% and a reduction in overhead costs of 30% compared to the previous year.

“The CHPA Educational Foundation and our partner SOMA Strategies are incredibly honored to receive an award from PRNEWS that recognizes the importance of our educational work and the impact that social media can have on public awareness,” said Anita Brikman, executive director of the foundation. “From customizing and enhancing our social media editorial calendar with relatable medicine safety messages, to working with a host of graphic designers and video producers to develop a suite of cost-effective creative that resonated with target audiences, this campaign is an example of how to do more with less.”
