(WASHINGTON, D.C.)  — The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) today elected Jeff Needham as chairman of the CHPA Board of Directors at its June meeting. Needham serves as executive vice president and general manager of U.S. Consumer Healthcare for Perrigo Company plc, the nation’s largest manufacturer of over-the-counter (OTC) private label products for the store brand market. Needham succeeds Patrick Lockwood-Taylor, who was previously vice president of Personal Health Care North America and Global Digestive Wellness at The Proctor & Gamble Company.

“I am very much looking forward to serve as chair and continuing to work closely with the board to help generate a positive environment for our industry and most importantly, serving our consumers,” Needham said.

In his present position, Needham has commercial responsibility for Perrigo’s U.S. consumer healthcare business with a focus on the development and long-term strategic direction of the commercial assets of the business, including marketing, sales, new product pipeline development, and business development ventures. Needham’s commitment to CHPA spans many years during which he has had a substantial impact as a board member, executive committee member, the finance committee chair, and most recently, chair-elect. Needham also serves as a member of the CHPA Educational Foundation Board of Directors.  Needham joined Perrigo in 1984.

"CHPA benefits from strong board leadership, and I am delighted Jeff Needham will take on the role of chair,” CHPA President and CEO Scott Melville said.

“He is ideally suited to help navigate the association through a changing healthcare landscape as we build upon the progress achieved under outgoing chair Patrick Lockwood-Taylor. We thank Patrick for his outstanding service to the industry and look forward to working with Jeff to help grow consumer health in America.”

Also, during the board meeting today, CHPA elected Thomas M. Finn, president, Global Personal Health Care, The Procter & Gamble Company, who will serve on the CHPA Board of Directors and the CHPA Executive Committee.
