Harris Teeter LogoDistinguished Retail Partner of the Year
We are honoring Harris Teeter for its commitment to promoting responsible self-care, including through our partnership this year on the Up and Away safe medicine storage program. In recognition of March’s National Poison Prevention Week, this partnership enabled the promotion of safe medicine storage across all 230 Harris Teeter stores. Through an in-store advertisement placed on pharmacy counters, we were able to reach more than 150,000 pharmacy consumers with reminders about safely storing their medicines up and away and out of sight of young children during the month of March. This public health outreach makes Harris Teeter an active partner and advocate in keeping kids safe from accidental unsupervised ingestions. The latest CDC data suggests our education is working; accidental unsupervised ingestions in young children have declined 22% since 2010. This underscores the value of consumer education as one part of the public health strategy to keep young children safe from harm.

Community Partner of the Year
We are honoring the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) for its longstanding commitment to supporting the CHPA Educational Foundation’s flagship campaigns Know Your Dose and Up and Away. Eight years ago, AANP helped establish the Acetaminophen Awareness Coalition and launch Know Your Dose, one of the foundation’s flagship campaigns educating consumers about the safe use of acetaminophen. AANP has helped to spread the message about safe acetaminophen use through media participation, conferences, material orders, and ongoing counsel and campaign support. AANP has also been instrumental in Know Your Dose and Up and Away spokesperson efforts, providing credible, knowledgeable nurse practitioners to lend their voice on the topics of safe acetaminophen use and safe medicine storage to media. We can count on AANP members to provide expert perspectives on medicine safety through their experience on the front lines of patient care.
